It’s a cool Saturday morning – everyone else is still sleeping, and you have the morning hours all to yourself. You plan to visit your favorite café to grab a cup of coffee, and settle in with a good book or your latest work-in-progress. What could make this morning better but an oversized, cabled, shawl-collar cardigan? The Café Cardigan was designed with these mornings in mind.

MATERIALS
Fibra Natura Dona (100% extrafine superwash merino; 50g/126 yds)
134 Glacier – 14 (16, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26) balls
Needles: US Size 6 (4 mm) 32” circular or longer (to accommodate large number or stitches) or size needed to obtain gauge
US Size 4 (3.5 mm) 32” circular or longer (to accommodate large number of stitches) or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, 9 – ¾” buttons

GAUGE
28 sts x 28 rows = 4” in Alternating Cables patt with larger ndl
21 sts x 28 rows = 4” in St st with larger ndl
22 sts x 40 rows = 4” in garter st with smaller ndl

PATTERN NOTES
The Café Cardigan is intended to be worn with approximately 10-12 inches of positive ease. It is knit flat and seamed. It features sideways construction and begins with the left sleeve. Stitches are picked up for the button band and short-rows are used to create the shawl collar.
